We Are Prepared for Summer Storms

Summer heat is officially here! While summer brings much fun in the sun, it also brings severe storms. In the event your family experiences a power outage, be assured that The Energy Cooperative is already working hard to respond.

Most power outages are the result of damage from falling trees and branches. We work year round – through our extensive right-of-way clearing efforts– to ensure our power lines stand little risk of being damaged by trees, branches or other types of vegetation.  We also focus on maintaining our system throughout the year, and make capital improvements as needed to reduce power outages.

Despite our best efforts, however, summer storms can cause outages. When this happens, our first priority is to safely restore power to as many members as possible in the shortest amount of time. We start by mobilizing our line crews and other critical staff. The big problems are handled first – like damage to transmission lines which serve the most people. These problems must be corrected before we can focus on other areas where more localized damage has occurred.

We do our best to avoid power outages, but sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. Be sure to check myenergycoop.com/outages on your smartphone for the latest updates during a power outage.
