It is important that your generator not backfeed into the electric system. This can be done safely with a Generlink meter collar device or a Trifecta transfer switch.
Generlink™ is a safe and simple way to connect your portable generator. We offer Generlink™ to our electric members.
- GenerLink™ is a meter collar device which allows electric members to safely and easily connect a portable generator to their home without risky do-it-yourself rewiring and hazardous extension cords. It’s designed and rated to connect directly to a standard household electric service, located behind the electric meter.
- When you connect and start your portable generator, GenerLink™ automatically disconnects your house from the electric utility grid. That prevents the possibility of dangerous power back-feeds which can potentially damage equipment and/or harm you and our utility personnel.
- Get total flexibility and control. Once the generator standby switch disconnects your home from the electric grid, you can simply control which appliances you want to use by flipping the breakers in your existing electric panel.
- Once installed, connecting your portable generator takes less than a minute with Generlink.™
- We offer the MA23-S and the MA24-S. We do not offer a non-surge generlink device to our members.
Trifecta is a manual transfer switch that safely connects your portable generator power to your home in minutes.
Manual operation lets you easily control whether your home is connected to the utility grid, an alternate source, or neither.
This less expensive option is easier to use as it is visible and a manual operation to switch back and forth (rather than relying on the internal switch of the Generlinks). The Trifecta also has surge protection as a standard to provide whole-home surge protection.
