Safe, Reliable Natural Gas Infrastructure to Support Local Growth

The Licking County Pipeline is a proposed 24-mile, 24-inch steel natural gas pipeline intended to serve behind-the-meter electric generation for a new data center. It will also be available for future expansion of The Energy Cooperative's distribution system. The project is designed to deliver safe, reliable natural gas while protecting the communities, landowners and environments along the route.

Pipe Diameter: 24 inches (steel)
Estimated Capacity: Up to 500 million cubic feet per day
Maximum Operating Pressure: Up to 850 psig
Purpose: Serve a behind-the-meter electric generation facility for an off-grid data center and will also be available for future expansion of The Energy Cooperative’s distribution system in the area.
Construction Duration (estimated): 12–14 months
Construction Hours (typical): 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Estimated Construction Jobs: Approximately 250
Estimated Investment: About $130 million

Rates for The Energy Cooperative’s members are not expected to increase as a result of this project. The end-use customer will fund the facilities and associated costs.

The Licking County Pipeline will be designed, constructed, tested and operated in accordance with applicable federal and state standards, including U.S. Department of Transportation pipeline safety regulations. The line will be monitored and controlled 24/7/365 from our gas control center.

Use existing corridors where practical
Minimize impacts on homes, farms and sensitive resources
Provide continued use of the land above the pipeline where it is safe to do so

Landowner Information

Large energy facilities in Ohio – including certain natural gas pipelines – are reviewed by the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB). The OPSB process is designed to:

Evaluate the need for the project
Consider environmental and community impacts
Establish conditions for construction and operation
Provide opportunities for public participation

The Licking County Pipeline will follow the applicable OPSB and other regulatory processes. More detailed information, including case numbers and filings, will be added here as it becomes available.
